George Street Sound

I had one thing on my mind once I got my car out of customs at the Limassol port. To find the best radio stations Cyprus had to offer.
I moved to Cyprus from the UK, North London, In September 1992 and had no plans to become a radio presenter. Yet one evening while scanning radio channels to program into my car stereo, I heard a British born Cypriot called Laki presenting a show called ‘it’s about that time’ on a Local Larnaca station. Laki played RnB and tunes from the 80’s. A few nights later, I met Laki by chance in a bar and we got chatting.
I was invited up to the station and the rest as they say is history. A few months later I was given my own slot on another Larnaca station at the start of 1993 and was thrown straight into the deep end by presenting the drive time show 5pm-7pm and “STREET SOUNDS” was born.
By the end of 1994 I fell out with the management of the station and decided to move to Limassol where I worked in music retail. It’s there where I met up with Panos the managing director of a new station called Melody radio 103.1fm.
